The Placenta

The Placenta

What a powerful organ. Women are truly magic. After having my son I got my placenta into capsules. There is so much research out there that determines the incredible benefits of consuming the placenta. It helps with energy levels, healing, iron, increase in milk production, pain reduction and even bonding with babies. Pretty amazing huh.

So how is the placenta formed? The cells burrow themselves deep into the walls of the uterus to form the placenta . This happens after fertilization and during implantation. The placenta does a number of amazing things like providing nutrients and oxygen to the baby and produces hormones such as progesterone and estrogen which are both necessary for mother and baby. Blood from the mother goes through the placenta then into the umbilical cord through to the baby. Pretty amazing huh. An organ you grow and then birth along side your baby. Wow. Below is a photo of my placenta before it was encapsulated.
